Chromatography Data Systems are operated in a wide range of ways. Some users might have a single PC and collect data from a single channel detector, handling injections manually. Another might have large Client/Server system dealing with a mixture of HPLCs and GCs - some working in dual channel, all utilizing autosamplers. The variation in requirements is emphasized further by the range of industries it is applied in. Pharmaceutical company requirements tend to be very different compared to the Environmental Analysis industry, for example. Consequently, it is necessary to have powerful and highly configurable link software to handle the connection to a LIMS
Why Link Your CDS?
If you have a LIMS and you work in a routine environment with a regular sample throughput, then there will be a significant financial benefit from linking. In some cases, the financial benefits are such that the Chromatography Data System and the link software can be justified from the link savings alone. As you move to less routine applications and fewer samples, the financial benefits are less obvious but are generally significant. Also, because manual transcription errors are removed, better assistance is given for checking results. This will result in quality improvements in your laboratory.
